In order to get married in Australia, you must both complete and sign a Notice of Intended Marriage Form, often referred to as the NOIM.

The NOIM must be given to the authorised celebrant no earlier than 18 months and no later than one month before the date of the marriage. So you can sign it up to 18 months prior to your wedding date, but must be no later than one month prior.

Both parties must produce evidence of date and place of birth and the end of any previous marriage (if applicable), they must show original documents a the time of signing.
